چکیده

High resolution direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm for array antennas becomes popular in these days. However, there are several error factors such as mutual coupling among the elements in actual array. Hence array calibration is indispensable to realize intrinsic performance of the algorithm. In the many applications, it is preferable that the calibration can be done in the practical environment in operation. In such a case, the incident wave becomes coherent multipath wave. Calibration of array in the multipath environment is a hard problem, even when DOA of elementary waves is known. To realize array calibration in the multipath environment will be useful for some applications even if reference signals are required. In this report, we consider property of reference waves in the multipath environment and derive a new calibration technique by using the multipath coherent reference waves. The reference wave depends on not only the DOA but also complex amplitude of each elementary wave. However, the proposed technique depends on the DOA only. This is the main advantage of the technique. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed technique. key words: array antenna, array calibration, direction-of-arrival estimation, subspace technique, multipath reference wave

Outdoor-calibration Method of the 3x3 Planar Array Antenna

Recently, superresolution techniques for Direction of arrival (DOA) estimation, such as MUSIC (MUltiple SIgnal Classification) algorithm [1], have become indispensable. By the assumption of an ideal array antenna, following problems are caused in an actual measurement. Array elements often have gain and phase errors, and mutual coupling effects cannot be also ignored in general, which degrade p...

Combined Calibration Method and its Realization for Direction Finding Antenna Systems with Patch Antennas

A novel radio channel compensation method aiming to give optimal calibration for microstrip antenna array systems is presented in this paper, realized for an actual DOA measurement antenna system using microstrip antennas to sample the electromagnetic field, operating at 4.5GHz. This new approach considers mismatch between antennas and channel RF ports, channel transmission inequalities, and al...

Direct measures of lateral velocity variation in the deep Earth

[1] Current tomographic models of the Earth display perturbations to a radial stratified reference model. However, structures in the deep mantle that are chemically dense with low Rayleigh numbers can develop enormous relief, perhaps with boundaries closer to vertical than to radial. Such features are hard to detect with present tomographic modeling techniques because the timing anomalies are b...
